My Recent Journey to Madrid
"Finding Madrid as alluring as travellers do today, the Habsburg royals chose the city for their capital in the 16th century, creating one of Madrid’s great draws with ***Buen Retiro Park***. Inside the park, I couldn’t help but marvel at architectural masterpieces such as the Palacio de Cristal (Glass Palace), a 19th century greenhouse-esque glass and iron construction and the zoo Casa de Fieras (House of Beasts). The Habsburg royals further enhanced the park’s beauty by lining the park’s many paths Baroque sculptures, including a the sinister but ever-enticing Ángel Caído (Fallen Angel). So, take a walk, and when you get hungry, don’t forget to try the food in the nearby restaurants; you’ll be pleasantly surprised!"
